Cecily Strong, born in 1984, is an American comedian, actress, and voice artist known for her work on television and stage. She was born in Springfield, Illinois, and raised in Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago. Her parents are Penelope Strong and Bill Strong. Her father, Bill, served as an Associated Press bureau chief and later went on to manage a public relations firm in Chicago. Her parents eventually divorced. Cecily grew up with a younger brother.

She co-anchored the show's "Weekend Update" segment initially with Seth Meyers during the premiere of season 39, and later continued in the role alongside Colin Jost. She eventually stepped down as co-anchor when Michael Che joined the segment.
