David Morse, born David Bowditch Morse on October 11, 1953, in Beverly, Massachusetts, is an American actor, singer, writer, and director. His mother was a schoolteacher, and his father worked as a sales manager. Morse developed an early interest in the performing arts and pursued his passion by studying acting at the William Esper Studio in New York City.
He began his acting career with the Boston Repertory Theatre, where he honed his craft on stage. His early work in theater laid a solid foundation for his future in film and television. Morse's talent and versatility soon led him to opportunities in Hollywood.
Morse rose to prominence with his portrayal of Dr. Jack Morrison on the acclaimed medical drama series St. Elsewhere, which aired from 1982 to 1988. The role marked a significant breakthrough in his career, earning him widespread recognition and critical acclaim.
