Tom Shillue is a storyteller, actor, television host, and stand-up comedian, originally from Massachusetts. He began his career performing in short films and making guest appearances in various television series. His early work included a stint as a correspondent on The Daily Show and a guest appearance in the comedy feature film Mystery Team (2009), produced by Derrick Comedy.
Shillue gained wider recognition for his performances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he showcased both his stand-up comedy and musical talents. He was part of the barbershop quartet, The Rag Time Gals, performing comedic renditions of pop songs such as “SexyBack” alongside Fallon, A.D. Miles, and Chris Tartaro, with appearances featuring celebrities including Justin Timberlake.
He later transitioned to roles in news comedy and hosting. In 2015, Shillue became the host of Fox News Channel’s late-night show Red Eye, succeeding Greg Gutfeld, who moved on to launch The Greg Gutfeld Show. During Gutfeld’s promotional tour for his book Not Cool, Shillue also co-hosted several episodes of The Five.
In addition to his hosting duties, Shillue has appeared in a variety of television programs, including guest spots on Law & Order, Broad City, and Spin City. He also made stand-up appearances on Conan, further solidifying his presence in comedy television.
Tom Shillue has an extensive background in live comedy. He was the opening act for comedian Jim Gaffigan and collaborated with him in the 1990s on a two-man show titled The American White Male. Shillue’s solo stage performances include critically acclaimed shows such as Supernormal and Dad.
During the Lewinsky scandal era, he was known for his impersonations of historical figures like Harry Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson, and John F. Kennedy. He also portrayed Ken Starr in Starr’s On Broadway, a social satire created by Eric Zaccar.
Shillue’s musical endeavors are closely associated with his appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. As a member of The Rag Time Gals, he performed humorous barbershop renditions of modern hits. Alongside Chris Tartaro and A.D. Miles, they performed songs such as “SexyBack” and “It Wasn’t Me,” bringing a unique blend of comedy and music to late-night television.
In November 2012, Tom Shillue launched an ambitious project titled 12 in 12, where he aimed to release one album of new material each month for 12 consecutive months. Initially misunderstood by some viewers as a running gag, Shillue and Gutfeld clarified the seriousness of the project during their appearances, resulting in increased album sales and heightened interest in his comedic work.
Shillue’s storytelling and solo performances have earned him critical acclaim. He received the ECNY Award for Best One Person Show in 2010 and Best Storyteller in 2011. Time Out New York praised him as “professionally clever” and one of the standout comics in New York’s comedy scene. His album Overconfident became a top-selling comedy CD, and The New York Times called him “inspired,” with others describing his work as “simply brilliant.”
Tom Shillue is married to Denise, and together they have two children. He maintains a strong presence in the entertainment industry as a sought-after performer for both live comedy and corporate events, known for blending sharp wit with engaging storytelling.
