Yasmine Amanda Bleeth, an American former actress, was born in New York City to Philip and Carina Bleeth. Her father, a business proprietor, is of Russian-Jewish and German-Jewish descent. During the time of Yasmine’s birth, Philip Bleeth was connected with artist Alice Brock and musician Arlo Guthrie. Her mother, Carina, who passed away in the early 1990s, was of Algerian descent.
Yasmine Bleeth began her career in entertainment at just 10 months old, appearing in a Johnson & Johnson "No More Tears" baby shampoo commercial. At the age of six, she was featured on the TV show Candid Camera and later participated in a Max Factor cosmetics campaign alongside model Cristina Ferrare. Her appearance in the campaign caught the eye of renowned fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo, who subsequently featured Yasmine and her mother in his book Scavullo Women.
Bleeth made her film debut at age 12 in the 1980 feature film Hey Babe!, co-starring Buddy Hackett. While still in high school, she landed a role on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope. In 1991, she began portraying LeeAnn Demerest on the daytime drama One Life to Live, marking a turning point in her television career.
She gained widespread recognition for her role as Caroline Holden on the globally successful TV series Baywatch. Her performance made her a household name in the 1990s. She also played a lead role in the 1997 TV film Crowned and Dangerous, portraying a troubled beauty queen. In 2000, Bleeth starred in the short-lived prime-time soap opera Titans.
Yasmine Bleeth was romantically linked to actor Matthew Perry in 1996. Later, she met Paul Cerrito, a nightclub owner, while both were receiving treatment at the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic in Malibu. The couple married in Santa Barbara, California, in 2002. They initially lived in Los Angeles before relocating to Scottsdale, Arizona.
In 1998, Bleeth became a national spokesperson for the Lee National Denim Day fundraising campaign, which supports breast cancer education and research. Her activism helped raise millions of dollars, including $5 million for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through the "Wear Jeans to Work" campaign. Inspired by her personal loss—her mother Carina succumbed to inflammatory breast cancer at the age of 47—Bleeth used her platform to encourage women to be more aware of their health and vigilant about changes in their bodies.
In 2000, Yasmine Bleeth voluntarily entered the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic in Malibu to seek treatment for cocaine addiction. Later that year, she and her then-boyfriend Paul Cerrito were arrested after a routine traffic stop, during which authorities found cocaine in their vehicle. Bleeth cooperated with law enforcement, pleaded guilty to the charges, and received a sentence of 100 hours of community service along with two years of probation. She expressed satisfaction with the outcome and acknowledged the role the experience played in her ongoing recovery.
