In 2012, Fish continued playing but began to struggle with health issues. He exited Wimbledon in the early round and lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in both Wimbledon and Indian Wells. Ongoing struggles with anxiety sidelined him for much of 2014.
In 2015, he made a brief comeback, participating in the Tennis Championships of Dallas and Washington, D.C., where he won his first singles match in over a year. He announced his official retirement after the 2015 U.S. Open, where he won a first-round match against Marco Cecchinato before losing in the second round.
Fish had a significant presence in World TeamTennis (WTT), participating across nine seasons. He began with the Hartford FoxForce in 2004 and later played for the Houston Wranglers, Sacramento Capitals, Washington Kastles, and New York Empire. He concluded his WTT playing career with the New York Empire, appearing in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons. He was also listed as a member of the Empire team for the 2020 season, held at The Greenbrier.
In September 2008, Fish married Stacey Gardner, a California attorney and former model on NBC’s Deal or No Deal, in a Jewish ceremony. Among the groomsmen was James Blake, a fellow tennis professional and close friend. Fish maintains strong friendships with other American players, including Andy Roddick and the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike.
He is also close to country singer and fellow Vero Beach High School alumnus Jake Owen, and the two have hosted multiple charity events together. Fish is a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings and had a loyal cheering section known as "The Fishheads."
After retiring from tennis, Fish became recognized as one of the top celebrity golfers. He won the prestigious American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe in 2020 and was champion of the Diamond Resorts Invitational in Orlando in 2016 and 2018.
Mardy Fish earned approximately $7.4 million in prize money over the course of his career. In addition to his six ATP singles titles and eight doubles titles, he was a finalist in four ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. His career-high singles ranking was No. 7, achieved in August 2011.
As of recent reports, Fish's estimated net worth is around $4 million. His income has largely stemmed from professional tennis earnings, endorsements, and post-retirement ventures, including competitive celebrity golf and media appearances. Today, Fish continues to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle and remains active in tennis-related activities.
