Born in January 31, 1971 in Iowa, Christine studied at the Iowa State University. She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and mass communication, and also studied French in the university. She has spent quite a few years in France as part of a student exchange program. She married Ed Tobin, who is a reporter for Reuters. They have three children and reside in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Christine Romans initially worked for Reuters and also reported from the futures trading markets of Chicago for the Knight Ridder Financial News. She joined CNN in the year 1999, reporting from the New York Stock Exchange. She also worked for a short period at CNN fn, which is defunct now. She anchored the program Street Sweep there. She was correspondent for the show Money line and also for Lou Dobbs Tonight. She co-hosts the show ‘Your Money’ along with Ali Velshi, which is telecast on weekends. She is also the headlines announcer for Starting Point and Early Start shows. She has also appeared in the show ‘American Morning’.

Christine Romans reports on breaking news focused on the economic developments in the world and the United States. In her segment Romans’ Numeral, she simplifies complex events and elaborates on them to enable viewers get a proper perspective of the situation. She has covered the bank crisis, the bailout of AIG, the impact of the derivative markets, and economic stimulus package and its impact on the American money. In the year 2009, she did a special series on the influence of religion on the spending trends in people titled, In God We Trust: Faith & Money in America.

Christine Romans has been honored with the Emmy Award in the year 2004 for her reporting on Exporting America about the effect of globalization on the U.S work force. She was also part of the team that won the George Foster Peabody award for reporting on the Hurricane Katrina and the Alfred I. DuPont Award for reporting on the destruction caused by the 2004 tsunami in the South East Asian region. She has also been honored with the Media Excellence Award by the National Foundation for Women Legislators and the James W. Schwartz award in 2009 by the Greenlee School of Journalism for her business coverage.

Christine Romans is also an author and has published two books titled ‘How to Speak Money’ in 2011 and ‘Smart is the New Rich’ in 2010. She has reported widely on issues focusing on substance abuse, immigration reform, American foreign policy for China and Latin America, and homeland security.
