Robert Bart was born on September 29, 1962, in Norwalk, Connecticut, and holds American nationality. Although his parents were not involved in show business, he hails from a family with entertainment ties, including his cousin Colby P. Bart and his nephew, film producer Peter Bart. In 1985, Bart graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Robert Bart gained critical acclaim for his performance in the Broadway revival of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, in which he portrayed the character Snoopy. His performance earned him the 1999 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He was later nominated again in the same category for his role as Carmen Ghia in Mel Brooks’ musical comedy The Producers.
Continuing his connection with Broadway, Bart starred in Mel Brooks’ production of Young Frankenstein as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein. In 2006, he reprised his role as Leo Bloom in The Producers, solidifying his status as a seasoned Broadway performer and versatile musical theater actor.
Bart expanded his acting portfolio with roles in various films. He voiced Young Hercules in Disney’s 1997 animated feature Hercules and contributed voice work for other animated projects. He made his big-screen debut in the 1999 drama The Insider, where he played a hotel manager. Notably, he appeared opposite Nicole Kidman in the 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives, playing a significant supporting role. In 2005, he reprised his stage role as Carmen Ghia in the film adaptation of The Producers.
