Early Life and Education

Andrew Goldberg, professionally known as Hammer, was born on October 31, 1966, and raised in New York. He pursued higher education at the University of Hartford, graduating with a degree in Philosophy in 1988. Throughout his college years and beyond, Hammer remained actively involved with Alpha Epsilon Pi, the international Jewish fraternity.

Broadcasting and Journalism Career

Hammer launched his career in journalism at the remarkably young age of 15, joining WNBC Radio in New York City. Over the years, he expanded his reach through various high-profile media platforms. He served as an anchor on Court TV, hosting the crime and justice program Hollywood Heat, and also played a key role at Sirius Satellite Radio, leading entertainment-focused programs.

He further bolstered his resume with appearances on Good Day New York, a prominent morning news program, and Extra, an entertainment news show. Additionally, he hosted News Live on the E! Channel. In 2005, Hammer joined both CNN and HLN, where he has remained a consistent on-air personality.

His radio career is equally extensive, including his role as host of VH1's well-known Top 10 Countdown. He also provided coverage for major events, music programs, and award shows. Hammer’s earlier radio experience includes working for four and a half years at WPLI, as well as a time at New York City's Z100 radio station.

Professional Modeling Career

Beyond broadcasting, Hammer has also made a name for himself as a professional model. He has been featured in several publications about fashion and style, including the coffee table book Heartthrob: A Hundred Years of Beautiful Men and The Mane Thing by renowned stylist Kevin Mancuso. In addition to print appearances, he had a cameo in the music video for Debbie Gibson’s song “What You Want.”

Charitable Work and Advocacy

Throughout more than two decades in the entertainment industry, Hammer has consistently balanced his professional life with philanthropic efforts. He is an active volunteer for Birch Family Services, a New York-based organization supporting children with developmental disabilities and their families. He is also a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, including being a strong supporter of marriage equality.
