Eunice Yoon

Early Life

Eunice Yoon is American, of Korean descent. She attended Phillips Exeter Academy and then Brown University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in political science, graduating magna cum laude.

Career

Yoon worked for CNN as a correspondent and anchor based in Hong Kong and Beijing. In November 2012 she joined CNBC to lead its China coverage, becoming the network's Beijing bureau chief and a senior correspondent. Over her career she has reported on major stories in Asia, including the 2008 Sichuan earthquake — where she was among the first journalists to reach the disaster zone — the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the sinking of the ferry MV Sewol, and President Donald Trump's 2017 visit to China.

At CNBC, Yoon anchors the feature program “Inside China”, and she also contributes to NBC News and MSNBC.

In addition to her work in television, Eunice Yoon is also an active public speaker who has appeared at industry conferences and events around the world.

Legacy

Eunice Yoon has established herself as one of the most respected journalists covering China. She has won numerous awards for her work: she shared in an Alfred I. du Pont–Columbia University Award for team coverage of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, and she received a New York Festivals Silver Medal in 2014, along with Asian Television Awards nominations.

Eunice Yoon’s work has had a lasting impact on the media industry. She has helped to bring attention to important global issues and has inspired many young journalists to pursue their dreams.
