Career Milestones and Washington Capitals Leadership

On December 17, 2011, Orpik reached a significant personal milestone by recording his 100th NHL point. He earned the assist on a goal by teammate Evgeni Malkin during a game against Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Later in his career, Orpik joined the Washington Capitals in 2014, where he served as an alternate captain and played a vital leadership role on and off the ice. He won a second Stanley Cup with Washington in 2018 and retired in June 2019 after 15 NHL seasons.

International Ice Hockey Career

Orpik represented the United States at the 2000 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship in Sweden. He also participated in the USA Hockey Olympic orientation camp in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver. Orpik was selected for Team USA and contributed to the team's silver medal finish, following a loss to Canada in the gold medal game.
