Early Life and Education

Cherry Seaborn was born on May 6, 1992, in Suffolk, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Matthew Seaborn and Ann Lancaster. She attended Thomas Mills High School in Suffolk, the same school Ed Sheeran also attended. Seaborn went on to study molecular biology at Durham University, where she further pursued her academic and athletic interests.

Seeking broader opportunities in both education and athletics, she enrolled at Duke University in North Carolina, United States. There, she joined the university’s accomplished field hockey team and later pursued a Master of Management Studies at Duke's Fuqua School of Business. Coming from an athletic background—her father played both cricket and football at Oxford Polytechnic—Seaborn was well-prepared for high-level athletic competition and rigorous academic challenges.

Academic and Athletic Achievements

During her time in the UK, Seaborn proved herself to be a formidable field hockey player. She was a key contributor in leading her club team to two consecutive runner-up finishes in the Investec Women's Hockey League. Internationally, she represented England in the Under-18 national team in 2007 and 2008, earning both silver and bronze medals across those competitions.

While Seaborn’s passion for field hockey influenced many of her life decisions, academics also played a central role. Her decision to attend Duke University was driven by a desire to explore strong academic programs alongside competitive athletic opportunities. Duke stood out to her thanks to insights shared by advisors and mentors whose opinions she deeply valued.
