Following his retirement from the military, David L. Grange transitioned into the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. He joined the McCormick Tribune Foundation as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer before being named President and CEO. The foundation focuses on supporting initiatives related to communities, journalism, citizenship, and education.
Grange has served on multiple boards, including the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Additionally, he is affiliated with the National Strategy Forum, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Council, and the Society of the First Infantry Division. He also serves as a trustee for Marmion Academy and the First Infantry Division.
Beyond his nonprofit and educational work, Grange has contributed as a national security analyst for networks including CNN, WGN-TV, and WGN Radio.
David L. Grange has received numerous military awards and decorations in recognition of his decades of service. Among these are the Silver Star, Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster, the U.S. Army Master Parachutist Badge, U.S. Air Force Occupational Badge, Special Forces Tab, and the 75th Ranger Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia.
After his tenure at the McCormick Tribune Foundation, he served as CEO of Pharmaceutical Product Development, a global contract research organization, until his retirement from that role in 2011.
