Conviction and Sentencing

On February 10, 1992, Mike Tyson was convicted of one count of rape and two counts of deviate sexual conduct. On March 26, 1992, he was sentenced to six years in prison and was incarcerated at the Indiana Youth Center (now known as Plainfield Correctional Facility). Although he was 25 at the time, he served less than three years and was released on parole in March 1995.

As a result of the conviction, Tyson is legally required to register as a Tier II sex offender under federal law.

Desiree Washington’s Life After the Trial

Following the trial and media coverage, Desiree Washington withdrew from public life. Once an aspiring model and college student, she became the subject of public controversy and intense scrutiny throughout the 1990s. Despite enduring public criticism and speculation, Washington chose to maintain her privacy and has not made significant media appearances in the years since.
