She earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism from the prestigious Carlos Septién García School of Journalism in Mexico City, graduating with honors. Early in her career, she served as assistant director in the Department of External Relations at the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico City, a role she held for two years. Journalism Career and Move to CNN en Español

Gabriela Frias launched her journalism career in 1997 with Reforma, one of Mexico’s leading daily newspapers. There, she specialized in business reporting, covering corporate events and developments in both public and private sectors at national and international levels. Her strong performance at Reforma led to her role as co-anchor for Negocios México, a joint production between Reforma and CNN en Español. In this position, she provided weekly analysis of financial and stock market activity in Mexico and New York.

In 2000, Frias officially joined CNN en Español as a producer for the business news program Economía y Finanzas, a 30-minute primetime show. She also took on substitute anchoring duties for the program. By 2002, her growing influence and credibility earned her the combined role of producer and presenter for En Efectivo, a show focused on financial education and economic insights for Spanish-speaking audiences.
