From a young age, Swank showed a strong interest in acting, performing in school plays and local theater productions. Hilary Swank made her film debut in 1992 with a small role in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Two years later, in 1994, she landed her first lead role in The Next Karate Kid, where her background in gymnastics proved beneficial.
