In 2013, he made his television debut on “The Chris Gethard Show,” a live, interactive comedy and variety talk show, appearing as the character Zero Fucks Boyd. The following year, he played the character Myron in the web series “New Timers.”

In 2014, Pera created “The Pancake Breakfast Critic,” a short-form comedy web series showcasing his unique, deadpan humor. His collaboration with Adult Swim began with “Joe Pera Talks You to Sleep,” part of the network’s Infomercials project. This was followed by the holiday special “Joe Pera Helps You Find the Perfect Christmas Tree,” which further solidified his relationship with the network.

Due to the popularity of these specials, Adult Swim commissioned a full series titled Joe Pera Talks with You.
