Keneti James Fitzgerald "KJ" Apa was born on June 17, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand. He is the son of Keneti Apa, a Samoan who holds a chiefly title in Samoa, and Tessa Apa, a European New Zealander. He grew up alongside two older sisters.

Apa attended King’s College, a prestigious secondary school in Auckland, before pursuing a professional career in acting.

Acting Career

Before gaining international fame, Apa began his acting journey with a role on the long-running New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street, portraying Kane Jenkins from 2013 to 2015. His performance caught the attention of casting directors and marked the beginning of his rise in the entertainment industry.

Riverdale and Breakthrough Role

Apa achieved widespread recognition after being cast as Archie Andrews in the CW drama series Riverdale. He was selected for the role after an extensive, four-month audition process.
