Foster, who is of Swedish and British heritage, was born and raised in England. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Cardiff University before completing postgraduate studies in Broadcast Journalism at Highbury College in Portsmouth. He currently resides in Berkshire with his wife and their three children.
Foster began his broadcasting journey at the age of 16, presenting a weekly show on Hospital Radio Swindon. While attending university, he gained practical experience as a reporter at the local BBC office. This led to a role with BBC Radio Five and later a two-year tenure at BBC Wiltshire Sound. At 24, he joined the BBC World Service and subsequently transitioned to BBC Television. There, he anchored business-oriented programs such as Business Breakfast on BBC World and co-presented the show Working Lunch.
