Natalia Kills, born Natalia Noemi Keery-Fisher on August 15, 1986, is a British singer, songwriter, and actress. She hails from Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, where she spent her early years. Her mother is of Uruguayan descent, and her father is a Jamaican-descended British citizen. Natalia attended Bradford Girls’ Grammar School before studying drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. However, she left her studies prematurely to pursue her career in entertainment. At the age of 15, she moved away from home to focus on building her professional life.
Natalia has described her childhood as initially comfortable and filled with frequent travel between England, Jamaica, and Spain. However, her life changed dramatically following her father’s arrest, leading to a period she characterized as marked by emotional struggle and instability.
Natalia began her acting career at the age of nine, appearing in the British television series New Voices. She adopted the stage name Verbalicious early in her music career, inspired by her mother’s nickname for her due to her talkative nature. Her first single under this alias, “Don’t Play Nice,” was released in 2005 and reached the UK Top 20.
Following a brief stint in Paris in 2007, where she collaborated on the track “They Talk Shit About Me,” she faced financial and personal hardships. By 2008, Natalia found herself without stable housing or employment, yet she continued to pursue music. Her persistence paid off when she was introduced to will.i.am, who signed her to his label, will.i.am Music Group.
