Brown launched her acting career in 1997 with a small role in the drama-thriller Here Dies Another Day, directed by Caryn West. Between 1998 and 1999, she contributed her voice to four episodes of the animated television series Mythic Warriors, voicing the character Atalanta. She is also experienced in hosting, on-stage dancing, and voiceover work, reflecting her multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry.
Her breakout television role came with the lead in the Canadian comedy series Sophie, where she portrayed the title character, Sophie Parker. The series aired from 2008 to 2009 with a total of 32 episodes, concluding on March 23, 2009.
Brown’s role in Sophie earned her a nomination for the Gemini Award (now Canadian Screen Awards) in the category of Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Program or Series. She gained further recognition for her performance in the hit horror-drama series The Strain, which premiered in 2014. In the series, she played Kelly Goodweather, a pivotal character in the storyline centered around a viral outbreak managed by the Centers for Disease Control.
Although commonly misreported, Brown did not receive a Golden Globe for her role in The Strain. However, the show and her performance were well-regarded among fans and critics alike. In 2016, she won an ensemble cast award at the Canadian Filmmakers’ Festival for her participation in the film How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town, where she portrayed the character Ana.
Despite appearing in approximately 70 film and television productions, Natalie Brown remains modest about her financial standing and is not currently ranked among the wealthiest actresses in the industry.
