Rilee Rossouw was born in 1989 in Bloemfontein, located in the Orange Free State province of South Africa. A talented left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler, Rossouw represented South Africa in international cricket and played significant roles in domestic leagues. He began his domestic career with Free State and the Knights before signing with Hampshire County Cricket Club in England in 2017.
Rossouw made his first-class debut in 2007 for Free State against Easterns, where he batted at number three and top-scored with 83 runs. His promising performance set the stage for a consistent presence in domestic cricket. He also represented the Eagles in franchise cricket, frequently contributing during the 2008 and 2009 SuperSport Series seasons.
Rossouw’s maiden first-class century came in 2008 against the Titans, scoring 106 with over 20 boundaries. The 2009/10 domestic season was a standout for Rossouw. He accumulated 1,291 runs at an average of 57.61, which included a monumental triple century—319 runs off just 291 balls—against the Titans. This innings became the fastest triple century in South African domestic cricket at the time. The knock featured 47 boundaries and 8 sixes. Alongside Dean Elgar, Rossouw shared a second-wicket partnership of 480 runs in 84 overs, which became the highest partnership for any wicket in South African domestic cricket.
