Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on April 14, 1977, in New York City. Her parents, Arthur Gellar and Rosellen Greenfield, were both Jewish. Her father worked in the garment industry, while her mother was a schoolteacher.

When she was around seven years old, her parents divorced, and she was raised primarily by her mother. In interviews, Gellar has frequently expressed gratitude to her mother, acknowledging the significant role she played in her upbringing. Gellar has stated that she has no strong memories of her father and did not have contact with him during her childhood.

She briefly attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, a school known for nurturing numerous notable performing arts professionals, and graduated in 1994 from the Professional Children's School in New York City.

Television and Film Career

Gellar began her acting career at a young age, appearing in commercials before transitioning into film and television roles. Her role as Kendall Hart on the soap opera All My Children won her the 1995 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. She is best known for her portrayal of Buffy Summers in the critically acclaimed television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003). Her performance as Buffy became iconic and earned her significant recognition.

She also appeared in several popular teen and horror films, including I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Scream 2 (1997), and Cruel Intentions (1999). In addition, she took on voice acting roles in series like King of the Hill and starred in other television projects such as The Crazy Ones and Ringer. More recently, she starred in the Paramount+ series Wolf Pack (2023) and played CSI chief Tanya Martin in Dexter: Original Sin (2024).

Personal Life and Marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr.

During filming for I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997, Gellar met actor Freddie Prinze Jr. The two began dating in 2000 and married in 2002. Together, they have two children: daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze, born in September 2009, and son Rocky James Prinze, born in September 2012. The family resides in Los Angeles.

The couple is known for maintaining a relatively private personal life. Although public appearances are infrequent, they occasionally share glimpses of their life online. In one instance, Gellar posted a selfie with Freddie Prinze Jr. on Twitter as a thank-you gesture after reaching 200,000 followers.
