Scooter Gennett

Scooter Gennett is an American former professional baseball second baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants. He is best known for becoming only the 17th player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a single game.

Early Life and Education

Ryan Joseph "Scooter" Gennett was born on May 1, 1990, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Joe and Tina Gennett. His father, Joe Gennett, served as a scout for the Houston Astros. He has one sister, Kristen LaRoche. Gennett's family later moved to Florida to allow him to play baseball year-round. He attended Sarasota High School and graduated in 2009.

Professional Baseball Career

Gennett began his professional baseball career when he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He quickly progressed through the minor league system and was selected to play in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game. Gennett made his MLB debut with the Brewers in 2013 against the Oakland Athletics.

Over the following seasons, Gennett established himself as a productive hitter. In December 2016, he and the Brewers reached an agreement on a one-year deal worth $2.525 million for the 2017 season. However, in March 2017, he was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds.

Historic Four-Home Run Game

On June 6, 2017, while playing for the Cincinnati Reds, Gennett made MLB history by hitting four home runs in a single game, including a grand slam, during a matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals. He became the first Reds player ever to achieve this milestone and only the 17th player in league history. This remarkable feat greatly heightened his reputation and legacy in professional baseball.

He continued to have a strong 2017 season, hitting his 20th home run on August 14 and finishing the year with impressive statistics. In 2018, Gennett was selected for the MLB All-Star Game. That season, he concluded with 23 home runs, 92 RBIs, and a .310 batting average, marking one of the peak performances in his career.
