Career Beginnings in Television and Film

Rex first gained public attention in 1995 when he joined MTV as a video jockey (VJ), where he used the on-screen persona Dirty Nasty. His charismatic presence earned the attention of viewers and opened doors to other television opportunities. He went on to act in several TV series, including a two-year role on Jack & Jill, and appeared as the character Eli in the series Felicity. He also made guest appearances on shows like Baywatch, Summerland, and Everwood. In 2006, he starred in the Lifetime drama Monarch Cove, which ran for 11 episodes.

Simon Rex has built a notable film career with roles in movies such as The Forsaken and The Karate Dog. He appeared in several entries of the Scary Movie franchise, including Scary Movie 3, 4, and 5, and acted in Superhero Movie and National Lampoon’s Pledge This, alongside Paris Hilton.

Music Career as Dirt Nasty

After developing a friendship with rapper Mickey Avalon, Rex ventured into the music industry under the alter ego Dirt Nasty. He formed the rap group Dyslexic Speedreaders along with Avalon, Beardo, and Andre Legacy. The group gained a cult following, although it eventually disbanded due to personal differences. In 2007, Rex released his debut solo album titled Dirt Nasty, which incorporated elements of underground music and hip hop. His performances and music videos have amassed significant views on social media platforms.

Business Ventures

Apart from acting and music, Simon Rex has pursued entrepreneurial interests. He was a co-owner of The Plumm, a nightclub in New York City, alongside notable figures such as Samantha Ronson, Noel Ashman, and Chris Noth. His involvement in nightlife culture further expanded his influence beyond the entertainment industry.
