Stana Katic is a Canadian-American television and film actress, best known for her compelling performances in both mediums. She was born on April 26, 1978, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to immigrant parents from the former Yugoslavia. Her father is originally from Vrlika, and her mother is from Sinj, both located in Croatia. Of Serbian ethnicity, Katic is the eldest of six siblings, with one sister and four brothers.
She spent her early years moving between Canada and the United States. Katic completed her high school education in 1996 at West Aurora High School in Illinois. She later attended the University of Toronto, followed by acting training at the DePaul University Goodman School of Drama from 2000 to 2002. Additionally, she furthered her acting education at the Beverly Hills Playhouse to enhance her skills.
Katic began her acting career with various appearances in television series. One of her early roles was as Hana Gitelman in the popular TV series Heroes. She went on to feature in several other television shows including CSI: Miami and The Handler. In 2008, she gained widespread recognition for playing Detective Kate Beckett in the hit ABC series Castle, a role that significantly boosted her profile in Hollywood.
Her film debut came with the romantic drama Feast of Love. She then played supporting roles in movies such as The Spirit as Morgenstern and in the James Bond installment Quantum of Solace (2008), where she portrayed Corrine Veneau.
