After their marriage, Susan continued to build her producing portfolio. In 2005, she produced House of Wax and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Over the next few years, she was involved in various high-profile productions, including The Reaping (2007), The Invasion (2007), and The Brave One (2007).
In 2008, she produced RocknRolla, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr., which helped renew interest in Downey's film career. She also produced Orphan (2009), Whiteout (2009), and played a leading production role in Sherlock Holmes (2009), featuring Downey in the iconic role. According to interviews, Downey personally lobbied for the Sherlock role while she was working on RocknRolla, underscoring their collaborative dynamic.
In 2010, Susan and Robert launched their production company, Team Downey, aimed at developing and producing a slate of storytelling-driven projects. Early outputs from the company included Due Date and Iron Man 2. In 2014, Team Downey released The Judge, a courtroom drama starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall.
During this period, the couple expanded their family. Their first son, Exton, was born in 2012, followed by their daughter, Avri, in 2014.
The Downeys’ relationship has become a Hollywood example of a powerful partnership, both emotionally and creatively. Robert Downey Jr. has repeatedly acknowledged Susan’s impact on his life, stating, “The old saying is true – behind every good man there's an incredible woman. I owe a huge amount – if not all – of my success to Susan."
