John Lithgow has also left a significant mark on the film industry. He appeared early in his film career in Brian De Palma's Blow Out and Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz. He received his first Academy Award nomination in 1982 for his role in The World According to Garp and a second nomination in 1983 for Terms of Endearment. Lithgow's filmography includes a range of genres, featuring notable performances in movies such as Footloose, Harry and the Hendersons, The Pelican Brief, Cliffhanger, A Civil Action, Kinsey, Dreamgirls, Miss Sloane, Beatriz at Dinner, and Love Is Strange.
He has also contributed to family entertainment, voicing characters in Rugrats in Paris: The Movie and playing Lord Farquaad in the animated hit Shrek. In recent years, he portrayed Roger Ailes in the 2019 films Late Night and Bombshell, continuing to take on challenging and diverse roles throughout his ongoing career.
