Amanda Lang is a Canadian journalist and business book author currently serving as producer and host of the twice-weekly program Bloomberg North on Bloomberg TV Canada, a role she began in 2015. Prior to this, Lang was affiliated with CBC as a host and business correspondent, having joined the network in 2009.
She gained prominence as the sole host of The Exchange with Amanda Lang, a weekday program airing on CBC that focused on business news stories. Her tenure as host began on August 11, 2014.
Lang began her career in journalism in print media, working at The Globe and Mail in the InfoGlobe unit. With more than two decades in media, she has built a respected career covering topics such as business, stock markets, banking, and the economy.
Over the course of her career, she has held various roles at leading news organizations. These include correspondent for The National Post in New York, anchor and reporter for CNN’s New York bureau, anchor and host at Business News Network (BNN), and anchor, co-host, and host at CBC.
Lang’s career at CBC was marked by a number of public controversies primarily related to conflicts of interest. She faced criticism for providing favorable coverage to companies that had engaged her as a paid speaker and for not disclosing her personal relationship with W. Geoffrey Beattie, a board member of the Royal Bank of Canada, during coverage involving the bank. These incidents sparked wider discussions about journalistic ethics and transparency at publicly funded broadcasters.
Despite these issues, Lang is often noted for her measured and non-confrontational interview style, which has defined her on-air persona.
