André Lee Roberson was born on December 4, 1991, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He later attended Karen Wagner High School near San Antonio, Texas, where he developed into a talented basketball player. Rated as a three-star recruit by ESPN, Roberson was ranked the No. 62 power forward in the nation upon graduating high school.
Roberson enrolled at the University of Colorado, playing three seasons for the Buffaloes under head coach Tad Boyle. Known for his defensive skills and rebounding prowess, he quickly made a name for himself. Roberson ranked third in the nation in rebounds per game in 2011 and improved to second in 2012. During his junior year, he earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors and was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Following that season, he declared for the 2013 NBA Draft.
In the 2013 NBA Draft, André Roberson was selected 26th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he was traded later that night to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he began his NBA career. Roberson became known for his strong perimeter defense, often guarding opposing teams’ top offensive threats.
On July 14, 2017, Roberson re-signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on a three-year, $30 million contract. Unfortunately, in January 2018, he suffered a ruptured left patellar tendon, which required surgery and ruled him out for the remainder of the season. His recovery process was marred by multiple setbacks, including complications in October and November of 2018, which extended his time away from active play.
