Braun Strowman is an American professional wrestler, actor, and former strongman, currently signed to WWE. He is best known for his imposing size and surprising agility in the ring, distinguishing himself as one of the most dominant big men in modern wrestling.
Adam Scherr, better known by his ring name Braun Strowman, was born on September 6, 1983, in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. He grew up alongside his sister in their hometown and attended Bandys High School in Catawba, North Carolina. There, he participated in various sports, including football, wrestling, and track and field. Despite academic struggles during high school, he graduated at age 17.
In 2003, Scherr enrolled in a community college and joined the semi-professional football team, the Hickory Hornets. He played for several seasons. In 2007, he participated in the NFL Scouting Combine; however, lacking college football experience, he was not signed by any NFL team.
Before transitioning to professional wrestling, Scherr built a solid reputation in the strongman circuit. In November 2011, he won the North American Strongman (NAS) US Amateur National Championships. In 2012, he claimed victory at the Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships, which secured him an invitation to the prestigious Arnold Strongman Classic, where he placed tenth and earned $1,000.
That same year, he also competed at the Strongman Champions League (SCL) North American Championships, finishing fifth, and the Giants Live Poland event, where he placed seventh. Additional victories in his strongman career include the 2010 Monster of the Midland, 2011 Summerfest Strongman, and 2011 West Cary Fall Festival of Power.
