Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born on November 29, 1976, in Anderson, South Carolina. His father worked at a textile factory and managed an upholstery business, while his mother was a nurse. Boseman developed an early interest in the arts and pursued his passion by enrolling at Howard University in Washington, D.C. There, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing. He further honed his craft at the British American Drama Academy's Mid-Summer Program in Oxford, England, before returning to the United States to study at New York City's Digital Film Academy.
