Darius Rucker

Darius Carlos Rucker was born on May 13, 1966 in Charleston, South Carolina. His mother, Carolyn was a nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina. His father was in a gospel band “The Rolling Stones”. He was raised along with three sisters and two brothers. When he was twenty years old, he joined the band “Hootie & the Blowfish”, where he was a lead singer. He met his band mates Mark Bryan, Jim Sonefeld and Dean Felber while he studied at the University of South Carolina.

Along with his band he released six studio albums from 1994 – 2005. He also has a successful solo career. He released his first solo album “The Return of Mongo Slade” in the 2001, which was made in genre of R&B. With Hidden Beach Recordings, Darius released the new album “Back to Then” in 2002.

The single from the album "This Is My World" appeared in the comedy movie “Shallow Hal”. He also made his appearance in commercial for the fast-food as a cowboy. Darius signed a deal with Capitol Records in Nashville in the 2008. His single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" reached to the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His second album Learn to Live was released the same year and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Rucker released a country album “Charleston, SC 1966”in the 2010. It was pretty successful thanks to the single "Come Back Song”, which was written along with Chris Stapleton and Casey Beathard. "True Believers” became his third country album with such hits like “Wagon Wheel” and “Radio”. He also joined to the Grand Ole Opry in the 2012.

Rucker performed at the C2C: Country to Country festival in London which was in the 2013. In the same year he was nominated for his version of “Wagon Wheel” for the for Best Country Solo Performance for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards events.

In the 2014 he released a new single "Homegrown Honey" especially for country radio. It was included to his fourth country studio album “Southern Style”, which was released the next year. The lead single songs, including "If I Told You" from his fifth album was released in the 2016.

In addition to his music career, he is a golf amateur and is a close friend of famous Tiger Woods. He also had become a partner in MGC Sports, which is a sports agency that represents golfers, football players, and coaches. In his honer was named after him a street in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Darius is a married man. His wife Beth Leonard gave birth in to his first child Carolyn Pearl Phillips in the 1995. He got his second daughter, Daniella Rose on the 2001. The couple also has a son, who was named Jack and born in 2005. Darius is a very down to earth man and has avoided controversies because of this reason. His net worth is approximately $14 million dollars.
