Declan Donnelly is an English presenter, producer and actor who is best known for appearing alongside Anthony McPartlin as part of the presenting duo Ant & Dec. The Ant & Dec duo formed after the actors met while performing on the CBBC drama Byker Grove; in a 2004 poll conducted by the BBC, the duo was named the eighteenth most influential people in British culture. In 2007, Ant & Dec signed a two and a half year contract with ITV worth thirty million pounds. Declan Joseph Oliver Donnelly was born September 25, 1975, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England; he has three brothers and three sisters. Donnelly attended the all-boys school, St. Cuthbert’s High School, and once considered becoming a Catholic priest. His television career began at the age of twelve when he auditioned for Byker Grove. Donnelly and McPartin have been co-presenters on a wide variety of shows including Britain’s Got Talent, Wanna Bet?, Text Santa, PokerFace, and Pop Idol.
Declan Donnelly married Ant & Dec’s business manager, Ali Astall, at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Elswick, Tyne and Wear, on August 1, 2015. The ceremony was conducted by his brother, Father Dermott Donnelly, a Catholic priest. The couple had their first child, a girl whom they named Isla Elizabeth Anne, in September of 2018.
