Dennis Haysbert is a television and American Film actor.  He is known of portraying the baseball player, Pedro Cerrano when he played Major League film.  He is Sergeant Major Jonas Blane at the Drama Series known as The Unit.  He is a figure in the AllState Insurance commercials.

Dennis Haysbert was born to Gladys who was a housecleaner and a homemaker and his father was a security guard on airline and deputy sheriff. He was born with 9 children and he was the eighth.  He has two sisters and 6 brothers.  His parents came from Louisiana and they were Baptist.  When he finished high school, he was tall and many schools offered her athletic scholarship but she decided to go to acting school in American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is a father of two but he is divorced. He was a husband to Elena Simms and Lynn Griffith. His marriage to Lynn Griffith was from 1989 and they got divorce in 2001. His marriage to Elena Simms was from 1980 to 1984. His children with Lynn Griffith are Katharine Haysbert and Charles Haysbert. He played on the defensive end with his high school football team. He graduated from American Academy of Dramatic Arts or AADA. He is a certified diver in Deep Sea with Secrets of Pearl Harbor. In 2009, he said that he wants to start a documentary production, film and TV company.

He said that he lost his confidence for some time because he thought he was not worthy to play the role especially because Mandela is one of his heroes.
