Background and Early Life

Julius Deion Randle was born on November 29, 1994, in Dallas, Texas. Raised by his mother, Carolyn Kyles, he demonstrated remarkable athletic ability from a young age. He attended Prestonwood Christian Academy, where he excelled as a high school basketball player. Highlighting his high school career, Randle won the Under Armour Elite 24 Dunk Contest in August 2012 and was ranked among the top five players in the Class of 2013. Rivals.com rated him as a five-star recruit. Randle committed to continue his basketball career with the University of Kentucky, where he played for the Kentucky Wildcats.

College and NBA Career

During his one season at Kentucky, Randle made a significant impact, helping lead the team to the NCAA Championship game in 2014. Following his strong college performance, he declared for the NBA Draft and was selected seventh overall in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Randle’s NBA career began with adversity. In his debut game on October 28, 2014, against the Houston Rockets, he suffered a fractured right tibia just 14 minutes into the game, sidelining him for the entire season. After undergoing surgery and completing his recovery, Randle returned for the 2015–2016 season and showed notable improvement throughout the year.

After several seasons with the Lakers, Randle signed a two-year, $18 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2018. He had a productive season with the team, averaging career-high numbers and elevating his status within the league.

In July 2019, Randle agreed to a three-year, $63 million contract with the New York Knicks—the most lucrative deal of his career at the time. Since joining the Knicks, he has been a cornerstone of the franchise, earning NBA All-Star and All-NBA honors and contributing significantly to the team's resurgence.

Julius Randle is a devoted Christian and a family-oriented individual. He is married to Kendra Shaw, whom he met during his college years at the University of Kentucky. Their relationship grew over time, and Randle proposed to her during a trip to Greece on June 20, 2016. The couple was married on August 3, 2017, in California.

Prior to their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Kyden, born on December 23, 2016. Randle often speaks about the importance of his family and the grounding role they play in his life. He and Kendra continue to maintain a strong partnership, both personally and professionally.
