Early Life and Family Background

Kathy Hilton, born Kathleen Elizabeth Avanzino, is an American actress, fashion designer, and philanthropist. She is the daughter of Sharon Kathleen Richards and Laurence K. Avanzino. Her paternal grandfather was of Italian descent. After her parents divorced, her mother married Kenneth E. Richards, through whom Kathy became half-sisters with actresses Kim and Kyle Richards.

Hilton attended a private high school in Los Angeles, where she became close friends with Michael Jackson, a friendship that lasted until his death in 2009.

Acting Career

Hilton began her acting career in 1968 and retired from regular appearances in 1974. Her notable television credits include roles in shows such as Bewitched, Family Affair, Happy Days, The Rockford Files, and The Dark. At the age of 17, she was a finalist for the role of Jan Brady in The Brady Bunch Hour. Although Eve Plumb declined to return, the role ultimately went to Geri Reischl. In 2008, Hilton made a cameo as herself on an episode of The Young and the Restless.

Marriage and Children

At the age of 19, Kathy married Richard Hilton, a real estate businessman and heir to the Hilton hotel fortune. Together, they have four children: Paris, Nicky, Barron, and Conrad Hilton. Kathy and her mother believed early on that Paris was destined for fame, affectionately calling her "Star" during her childhood. The media quickly became familiar with the Hilton children, especially Paris and Nicky, due to their parents’ high-profile social events.

Kathy has described herself as a firm yet loving mother and commends Paris for her dedication and hard work.
