The Kemp brothers have frequently collaborated throughout their professional lives, most notably in film and music.

Spandau Ballet and Musical Career

During the 1980s, Martin Kemp played bass for Spandau Ballet, a leading band in the new wave and synth-pop movements. His older brother, Gary Kemp, served as the band's guitarist and primary songwriter. The other founding members included Tony Hadley on vocals, John Keeble on drums, and Steve Norman on saxophone and percussion.

The band gained international success with hit songs such as "True" and "Gold," becoming iconic figures in the British pop music scene of the decade.

Film and Television Roles

Outside of his music career, Kemp has enjoyed notable success as an actor. He starred alongside his brother Gary in the British crime biopic The Krays (1990), in which he portrayed the infamous gangster Reggie Kray. He also appeared in the fantasy-horror film Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992).

In 1995, Martin was diagnosed with two brain tumors, which required surgical removal. Following the operation, he had a metal plate inserted in his head—not as a result of a car accident, as is sometimes mistakenly believed. Additionally, he has a surgical pin in his arm.
