Early Life and Education
Muhammad Wilkerson was born on October 22, 1989, in Linden, New Jersey. He attended Linden High School in his hometown, where he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. After high school, he spent a post-graduate year at Hargrave Military Academy to further develop his academic and athletic skills. He then went on to play college football at Temple University, where he was a key player for the Temple Owls football team.
Wilkerson is the son of Janice Wilkerson and Alvin Wilkerson. He has three sisters—Haseez Brown, Zakkaiyah Wilkerson, and La Quan Brown—making him the only son in the family. His mother, Janice, is of African descent and practices Islam devoutly, including wearing a hijab. Wilkerson, who is also Muslim, has openly discussed the difficulty of observing fasting during Ramadan due to the demands of his athletic career but has expressed his intention to participate in future observances.
Wilkerson is currently single, and he keeps his personal relationships private. Although there have been rumors about him dating, he has not publicly confirmed any relationship. He has expressed a deep bond with his mother, even dedicating a tattoo of her name on his right arm as a tribute to her support. In interviews and writings, he has described her as his hero. Known for being introverted, Wilkerson prefers to let his performance on the field speak for itself. One quote he resonates with is, “I came, I saw, I conquered.”
