Steven Yeun

Yeun was raised in a Christian household and has spoken in interviews about balancing traditional Korean family values with American culture. He is a passionate sports fan and once said, “I’m from Michigan, so I’m a Detroit Pistons, Lions, Red Wings, Tigers fan.”

Transition into Acting

Steven Yeun began his career in theater before moving into television and film. Although he has voice acted in several video games, including notable work in the "Crysis" series, he gained widespread recognition for his performance as Glenn Rhee on AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead (2010–2016).

Breakthrough with The Walking Dead

Yeun rose to fame with his portrayal of Glenn Rhee in The Walking Dead. His character quickly became a fan favorite, and his performance earned him and the rest of the ensemble the 2012 Satellite Award for Best Cast – Television Series. His role contributed significantly to broader representation of Asian Americans in mainstream television.

Filmography and Television Appearances

Beyond The Walking Dead, Yeun has appeared in films such as My Name Is Jerry (2009), I Origins (2014), and was cast as the voice of Tony Chu in a planned animated adaptation of Chew. He has also made brief but memorable guest appearances on television shows including The Big Bang Theory, Law & Order: LA, and Drunk History.

After leaving The Walking Dead, Yeun starred in Burning (2018), Minari (2020), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, Nope (2022), and Mickey 17 (2025). He also voices Mark Grayson in the animated series Invincible (2021–present). For the Netflix series Beef (2023), he won the Golden Globe Award and the Primetime Emmy Award for lead actor in a limited series.

Yeun is known for his quirky sense of humor and has delighted audiences on talk shows, including Conan. In one humorous segment, he joked about being self-conscious during shirtless scenes due to his “tiny nipples,” highlighting his candid and comedic side.
