Brianna Lynn Brown was born on October 2, 1979, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is an American actress and producer, widely recognized for her roles in the ABC soap opera General Hospital and the Lifetime series Devious Maids.
Brown spent most of her childhood in Apple Valley, Minnesota, alongside her four siblings: Keely, Ivy, Tucker, and Asher. Her passion for performing was evident from an early age, as she participated in school plays and community theater productions. She recalls her early enthusiasm for performing, stating, “When I was little, I was very loud and loved performing in front of people. I was fearless. When I hit puberty, I became very shy and self-conscious. I still get nervous sometimes before shooting and definitely before big auditions.”
She briefly attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where her interest in acting deepened. However, she decided to pursue a professional acting career and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19. It was a bold move, considering the competitive nature of the entertainment industry, but Brown managed to carve out a place for herself.
Before fully transitioning into acting, Brown dabbled in modeling while still living in Minnesota. Reflecting on that time, she said, “I did a little modeling in Minnesota, but because I was a heavier 'model,' I didn't pursue it much when I lived there.” Feeling that there were limited opportunities for her body type in modeling, she set her sights on acting, where she believed she had more room to grow creatively.
Brown launched her professional acting career with a role as Ashley, a cheerleader, in the cult TV series Freaks and Geeks in 1999. She also appeared in the television film Search for the Jewel of Polaris: Mysterious Museum.
Her film career gained momentum with small but noticeable roles in major comedies such as Knocked Up (2007), where she played Alison's friend, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), in which she had a cameo as a bar girl. She also starred in lead roles in horror films like Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006) and Timber Falls (2007), portraying Barb and Sheryl, respectively.
Additional film credits include appearances in The Animal (2001), Hollywood Homicide (2003), Spider-Man 2 (2004), The Storyteller (2005), Conversations with Other Women (2005), National Lampoon’s Adam and Eve (2005), Love’s Abiding Joy (2006), The Lost Tribe (2010), The Encounter (2010), and Screwed (2013).
