Early Life and Education

Emilie Ullerup was born on October 27, 1984, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her father, Ove Ullerup-Petersen, served as the Lord Chamberlain for the Danish Royal Family and was also a Danish diplomat, including a posting as Denmark’s Ambassador to Vietnam. Due to her father’s international assignments, Emilie became fluent in Danish, English, and Vietnamese. She completed her secondary education in Copenhagen and, in 2003, moved to British Columbia, Canada, to pursue a career in acting. Emilie enrolled at Vancouver Film School and graduated in 2005, following her passion for performing arts.

Acting Career

Emilie began her professional acting career in 2004, appearing as Julia Prynne in the acclaimed science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica. She went on to play Sandra in the series Blood Ties (2006), further establishing her presence in genre television. Her most notable role came in 2008 as Ashley Magnus in Sanctuary, starring alongside Amanda Tapping. The show gave Emilie international exposure and a dedicated fan base.

In addition to Sanctuary, Emilie played a leading role in the comedy-drama series jPod, where her performance earned her a Leo Award for Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series. In 2009, she faced a significant personal health challenge when doctors discovered a benign but aggressive tumor wrapped around her spinal nerves. She underwent surgery and made an impressive recovery, returning to work just five months later.

Personal Life and Family

Emilie is married to Kyle Cassie, a Canadian actor and photographer. The couple met while working on the Hallmark film With Love, Christmas and also collaborated on other projects, including True Justice and Death Do Us Part. In a symbolic gesture of their bond, Emilie has a tattoo featuring both of their names. They were married in 2015. On January 24, 2020, the couple welcomed their first child, Mørkøv Ullerup Cassie.
