Jon Huertas, an American actor of Puerto Rican and Caucasian heritage, was born in 1976 in New York City. He served in the United States Air Force beginning in 1987, where he worked as both a pararescue jumper and a nuclear weapons technician. During his military service, Huertas participated in key operations, including Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Storm.
Huertas began his acting career in 1993 with an uncredited role in the film The Webbers. He gained wider recognition in 1998 for his role as Joe Negroni in the romantic drama Why Do Fools Fall in Love, acting alongside Halle Berry, Ben Vereen, and Paul Mazursky. The following year, he appeared in the horror film Cold Hearts as well as the action film Stealth Fighter.
In the 2000s, Huertas gained considerable acclaim for his portrayal of Sergeant Espera in HBO's miniseries Generation Kill, which depicted the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The series, based on the book by journalist Evan Wright, featured Huertas in a pivotal role alongside actor Alexander Skarsgård.
